This portfolio of drawings and paintings were produced between 2013-16 as part of my training at LARA, the London Atelier of Representational Art. The methodology used at LARA aims to train the eye and develop dexterity in using a variety of media.
The exercises increase in difficulty in terms of the subject matter. The artist starts working in pencil, progresses to charcoal, then to charcoal and chalk, and after this to grisaille – using black, white and raw umber oil paint. The final stage is also the first step into colour still life: the Pear.
